At Family Smiles Fort Lee we are conscious to provide the highest level of safety for our patients throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We have researched and invested in the highest scientifically backed safety measures to keep our patients safe. At our office you will see these measures at work and we look forward to keeping you happy, healthy, and smiling.
Fogging with Hypochlorous Acid (HClO)
Since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have used a “fogging” machine to efficiently and routinely sanitize our office after every patient. Hypochlorous Acid is a safe and natural compound produced by our own white blood cells which helps kill COVID-19 as well as many other disease causing microorganisms. It is a FDA tested and approved odorless, tasteless and safe compound.

Mouth rinse with Molecular Iodine (ioRinse)
As COVID-19 is a virus which is transmitted via aerosolized droplets and/or touch, we have pushed for a way to keep everyone safe during their visit. Each time you are treated in our office, we will ask you to swish and rinse with a mouth rinse that contains Molecular Iodine for at least 30 seconds. In Vitro studies have indicated that 30 seconds of meaningful rinsing with ioRinse will reduce viral and bacterial load in our mouths. This in turn will allow for less aerosolization of any possible communicable microorganisms and a safer environment for our patients, staff and doctors. But don’t worry, with flavors such as Mint Apple and Cinnamon Burst, it’s easier than rinsing with traditional mouthwashes.

HEPA Filters and UV Light
In each room of our office you will undoubtedly see our HEPA filters with integrated UV lights. Current state and federal guidelines encourage the use of these filters to reduce airborne viruses and diseases. Our goal is to reduce the level of aerosolized particulates produced secondary to routine dental care and to keep all those that we treat safe and healthy.
Wearing Masks at Family Smiles Fort Lee
Rest assured we are aware of, and closely monitoring, state and federal guidelines regarding wearing facemasks. At this time, we please ask all our patients to continue to wear a facemask when entering and leaving our office, even if fully vaccinated. We care about each and every one of our patients and believe that a collective effort by everyone who visits our office will keep those in our community who are high risk for adverse outcomes safe and out of the hospital.
Thank you for putting your trust in us and we look forward to continuing to keep you happy, healthy, and smiling.
